Organic, what do you mean?
Take a look at any dictionary for a range of definitions regarding
organic. Some companies producing chemical filled products could
use the term ‘organic’ on their products because
they use ingredients sourced from organic chemistry, but there
would be nothing ‘natural’ about them, and not the
kind of thing consumers want when they seek organic products.
Organic paint?
The Soil Association has informed me that whilst the term organic
is defined in EU law, it only extends to products bound for
human consumption. But some of the manufacturers we at ecoartisan
deal with rightly claim their products to be organic, given
that some of the main components are natural, raw mineral materials,
or vegetable (i.e. harvestable) including linseed & soya
oil, which are often organically farmed. Some manufacturers
call their paints organic - having studied the ingredients,
manufacturing processes and, given that I use them regularly,
it’s fine with me! |
